This 12 inch Vertical Galvanized Bunk Bracket allows you to vertically mount a 2 x 4  or 2 x 6 bunk board. These vertical bunk brackets are very common on flat bottom john boats and skiff boats. They would also be adequate for V-Hull Boats. Typically a single axle trailer would have 4 of these mounted to hold up the boat. The 1/2 inch adjustable slotted holes allow for you to fix the height of your bunks to get the right ride height for your boat.
Ideally, you would use either  trailer bolts or trailer u-bolts to mount these bunk brackets around your boat trailers cross-members. The cross-members are the the pieces of either galvanized channel, tubing, or aluminum tubing that connect one side of the trailer frame to the other, typically in front, and behind the trailers axle or axles. In some cases with a tandem axle trailer, there may be 3 cross-members. When mounting this 12 inch Vertical Galvanized Bunk Bracket, mount the flat side to the face of the cross-member, and the open side will face away from the cross-member.
Important things to consider when replacing Vertical Bunk Brackets.
1. Desired Bunk Board Height- Do you want the same size or would you prefer a short, or taller height for your boat. If you are going shorter keep in mind the changing ride height of the boat puts it closer to the trailer fenders and also the motor closer to the ground.
2. Keep Track of Hardware needed to replace the bunks. These bunk brackets will mount with either 1/2 inch bolts or U-Bolts. Determine which is needed, and the appropriate measurement. Most commonly, U-Bolts fastened around the trailers cross-member, and through the slotted holes. Determine the dimension needed to go around the cross-member by measuring the height and width. Keep in mind to add extra length for the nuts and washers.
You may also need a through bolt for the desired bunk board you will be installing in the bunk bracket.

New Hyundai Santa Fe goes butch with Andy Torbet

Fri, 15 Mar 2013

Hyundai has roped in extreme adventurer and TV presenter Andy Torbet as a Hyundai Brand Ambassador to demonstrate the rugged side of the new Santa Fe. In fact, Hyundai has gone about as far from fluffy stuff as it can by getting extreme adventurer, and sometime TV presenter, Andy Torbet on board as a brand ambassador for Hyundai, and throwing him a new Santa Fe to tackle his rugged adventures. Andy is busy writing a book about extreme adventures in the UK and is travelling round the country to the UK’s most remote spots, so Hyundai found this a great opportunity to get him in the new Santa Fe as he tackles stuff like rock climbing and exploring flooded mines (and not doubt lots of other butchness too).

Audi A3 Cabriolet (2013) at Frankfurt motor show

Sun, 08 Sep 2013

Completing the quadruple A3 bodystyle line-up is this new drop-top: the Audi A3 Cabriolet. The new soft-top is bigger yet lighter than the old convertible A3, and has morphed into a more resolved silhouette courtesy of its booted rear instead of the old version’s chopped hatch profile. Plus, for the first time ever, an S3 Cabriolet is set to join the range, offering a 155mph breeze in your hair, and 0-62mph in around 5.0sec.
