New cars 'cheaper to insure' for young drivers

NEW CARS are actually cheaper for young drivers to insure than old bangers, insurance broker Be Wiser has claimed. Figures from the company reveal that the cheapest car for youngsters to insure at the moment is a Volkswagen Up, which costs around £3,000 per year based on a 17-year-old driver in a large city. The same customer looking to insure a 20-year-old Ford Fiesta would be facing a bill of almost £4,000, with insurance premiums even higher in some parts of the country.

Infiniti prices the 2012 QX and EX

Infiniti is sticking with 2011-model-year prices for the 2012 QX luxury SUV, hoping to maintain a positive sales response since last year's redesign. Meanwhile, the 2012 Infiniti EX crossover models will have higher stickers across the board, with sporty rear-wheel-drive models starting at about $1,000 more for 2012. BMW to show production hybrid X6, 7-series at Frankfurt motor show

A pair of fire-breathing hybrids from BMW based on the X6 and the 7-series will be revealed in production guise at the Frankfurt motor show in September. The ActiveHybrid X6 arrives in the United States late this year, followed by the ActiveHybrid 7 in the spring of 2010.
