1978 Yamaha Ssr 440 Snopro Snowmobile Engine on 2040-parts.com
Canastota, New York, US
Up for auction today we have a 1978 Yamaha SSR 440 Snopro engine. This is a used engine unrestored. I'm going to do my best in telling you what the defects on it are and I believe I took a picture of most of the defects so please take a close look at all the pictures. First off one cylinder head has some extremely minor pits in the chamber, looks as though some snow got sucked in the carbs at one time would be my guess, doesn't look like a detonation issue. That is not an uncommon thing on these being that there was nothing to prevent that from happening. Next the screw top on the right side carb is not original, it's the threaded mikuni type, you would just have to drill the threads out to make it like the left side original one, same as the 76 and 77 srx 440s so you can either drill it or replace it. Next the right side carb bowl has a notch in it and someone blocked off the power jet hole, both those issues are in the same picture and can either be repaired or replaced being that they are the same as the 76 and 77 srx 440s it shouldn't be to hard to find a replacement. Left side carb is all good original. Next there is a ding behind the clutch shown in a picture, repairable. There is a broken bolt in one of the holes that holds on the recoil and one other hole is starting to strip out so those will need to be repaired. I will not include with the engine main jet, pilot jet, power jet, jet needle, or the needle jet. I will let you take responsibility for proper jetting for your area. Carbs do come with the left and right hand slides and springs. Also not included are the clutch weights and spring. Ignition is original numbers matching flywheel and stator number 709. Exhaust flanges are original SSR aluminum. Cylinders, head, and carbs are all original 8HO with a left carb and a right carb, velocity stacks are in great condition and the carbs are really clean as pictured. The crankshaft is original, rolls extremely smooth and is one of the best original vintage crankshafts that I've ever seen, as pictured. One of the cylinders has a slight scuff mark between the transfer ports and the exhaust port and below the top of the exhaust port, this shouldn't affect running the engine. Cylinders are still original chrome plated and besides the scuff in the one cylinder they are in great condition. Transfer ports are untouched. Serial number on this engine is 196. The original pistons and rings are included and they are in great shape with wrist pins, clips, and needle bearings. The inline water temp gauge T that goes between the heads and the water pump is missing. Water pump rolls free but could use a replacement belt which will be included NOS OEM part number 8HO-12444-01. Also included will be NOS OEM cylinder head gaskets X2 part number 8A7-11181-00, NOS OEM head gasket O-Rings X2 part number 93210-78307, NOS OEM clutch side crank oil seal part number 93103-32095 and new mag side crank oil seal, NOS OEM water pump gasket part number 8A7-12427-00, NOS OEM water manifold gaskets X4 part number 8A7-13556-00, and a NOS OEM cylinder base gasket part number 8HO-11351-09. I put this up for sale as is because some people like to put their own engines back together, me being one of those people. If you would like me to fully assemble it to running condition I will, for an extra cost. Or I can fully restore it back to 100 percent perfect condition which I am capable of doing, at an extra cost. I can fix every problem that I have listed here. The engine appears to be assembled in one of the pictures but it is just mocked up with basic hardware, no gaskets, seal, or pistons in it. I will not ship this item but I will hold it for up to 6 months if you need to arrange for delivery which I can possibly help you out with if needed. The item must be paid in full within 7 days of auction ending. You would be hard pressed to find another SSR engine as complete as this one. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. For quickest reply you can text me at 315-761-75581. Remove the last number 1, if you call I will call you back in my free time. I will be listing other items in the near future so please take a look at those. Thanks.

Subaru improves EyeSight for 2014
Mon, 27 Jan 2014Subaru has updated its EyeSight system for future models. The system integrates adaptive cruise control, pre-collision braking and vehicle lane-departure warnings. The pre-collision system can detect a vehicle in or entering a car's path, and if the driver hasn't applied the brake, the system will do so.
Nissan confirms IDx for production
Fri, 17 Jan 2014Nissan will produce at least one of the IDx concepts shown at the Detroit auto show. Vice president Andy Palmer said at the show, “Don’t say that we won’t do both, but we will definitely do one of them.” That statement confused us a bit, especially with the positioning of Nismo as upgraded versions of the company’s normal cars. Surely, the Freeflow could be repainted and improved into a Nismo version.
Mazda MX-5 Superlight concept at 2009 Frankfurt motor show
Fri, 11 Sep 2009By Ben Pulman First Official Pictures 11 September 2009 09:30 To celebrate 20 years of the MX-5, Mazda has produced this special Superlight concept which be unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show next week. Mazda started with the facelifted version of its third-gen sports car and pared it back to basics to create an uncompromising sub-1000kg two-seater sports car. According to project lead designer Hasip Girgin, the challenge was 'to evolve the MX-5, developed to perfection during the last 20 years, to a higher and extreme level.' As such, Mazda seems to be treating the MX-5 Superlight like a portly Caterham, claiming the lack of a windscreen and roof makes the driver and passenger feel more connected with the environment.
