Ford Focus electric lights up 100 mpg-e
Wed, 14 Dec 2011Some numbers are magical, and in the race to build the most fuel-efficient electric car, the figure that is rapidly coming to mean the most is 100. Triple digits, as in 100 mpg-e. Ford has fired the latest shot in this green-car war, claiming that the Focus electric will be the first five-passenger vehicle to break the 100-mpg-e barrier.
Dacia Sandero really is cheap – from just £69 a month
Mon, 19 Nov 2012Renault has boasted about how cheap their Sandero and Duster are, and with monthly payments from just £69, they right. Admittedly, you do need to stick a deposit of £1,845 down if you want to pay just £69 a month, but even if you can only rustle up £699 you can have the duster for £99 a month. At that sort of price – thanks to a deadline offering from just £5,995 – it’s about as cheap a way in to a new car as you could hope for.
Ferrari F450 – due at Frankfurt in September ’09
Mon, 30 Mar 2009Rendering of the Ferrari F450 - due to show at Frankfurt in September and go on sale in 2010 But the new Ferrari F450 is getting closer, and spy shots of the F450 have enabled Auto Express to come up with a rendering that is, we reckon, near as dammit to the finished article due to be shown at Frankfurt in September. Sporting a pair of big side vents that have been enlarged to help the engine breathe and the brakes cool, the F450 is different enough to the F430 to set it apart as a new car – not just an evolution. The F450 is going to have to go upmarket to compete with the likes of the Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4, and in an effort to compete Ferrari has upped the capacity of the F430, increased the rev limit and produced an engine that, in the F450, should deliver something around 500bhp.
