Aston Martin puts on a show for the Lord Mayor The weather on Saturday was wet and miserable, but that didn’t stop the annual Lord Mayor’s Show in London going ahead, complete with a selection of Aston Martin’s finest. The Lord Mayor’s Show happens on the second Saturday in November every year, and has for 477 years followed the same route - even throughout World Wars – as the City of London celebrates the inauguration of a new Lord Mayor. This year Aston Martin was asked to take part by the The Worshipful Company of Coachmakers and Coach Harness Makers of London – an apt invite for Aston’s centenary year – and Aston Martin responded with a decent turnout of models.

Nissan showed off a fresh take on the urban vehicle with the Townpod concept in Paris. Part coupe, part commercial vehicle – according to a Nissan spokesperson we spoke to at the show – the Townpod concept features a clear product aesthetic and the inherent practicality of a van, without resorting to outright utilitarianism. By Liz Turner Motor Shows 20 March 2008 21:13 Saleen is best known for its red-hot Mustangs, but at New York it revealed an American supercar concept to rival the Europeans. Its S5S Raptor is around the same size as a Ferrari 430, and should be close to the same price, but boasts 175bhp more. It’s powered by a Saleen-built supercharged 6.0-litre V8, that will run on ethanol (like an increasing number of race cars).
