Rated: self-braking cars that avoid a crash

The most recent advance in vehicle safety has to be the autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) – a sophisticated suite of sensors and electronics that monitors objects in front of your car, automatically applying the brakes for you if it senses you’re heading to hit something. Up until now these auto-brake features have not been rated, but ahead of a new 2014 test that will include AEB systems in its overall safety star scoring, Euro NCAP has put the some of the vehicles already equipped with this technology through their paces. UK Motorways hit the big 50

Circumventing London on the M25, much as we complain, is infinitely better than using the North and South Circular roads used to be. London to Leeds is just a few hours and, despite the huge traffic problems on the M5 in the summer months, the West Country is accessible in an acceptable length of time.

Honda Accord Coupe concept

Despite the Honda Coupe's 'concept' designation, this car essentially previews the ninth-generation model set to go on sale later this year. Proportionally the new car is an evolution of the outgoing model, with a slim side profile and elongated tail. Its lamp, grille and window graphics also build on the existing themes but have been refined to add more balance and definition to the car's detailing.
