Here's the story:

I used the same scooter shop for five years. I bought a brand new Sym Mio 49cc (my second purchase from that dealer). I talked to the owner about getting the Mio "deregulated" when it came in, and he was enthusiastic about it (the shop had great mechanics). He told me he's order the parts. I paid for the scoot, and waited for delivery. When I returned to pick up the scoot, I was introduced to the new owner. The shop was in the process of turning over when I bought the Mio and the new owner wanted the sale kept secret. He didn't want long-time customers scared away (the outgoing owner was a prince of a guy and everyone loved him).

When I picked up the new scoot, I asked about the CDI. The new owner said he didn't know anything about it, but he'd be happy to order the part for me.The old owner would have installed the CDI, recognized that it was the wrong part and ordered a new one. The new owner wanted to charge me THIRTY DOLLARS to install the CDI, so I just paid for it ($78.00) and took it home and installed it myself. It wouldn't pass spark (of course) and I took it back.  This CDI is for a Vento 150. OF COURSE it doesn't pass spark in my Mio!

So I took the CDI back and was told, "No refunds on electrical parts."

They closed up several months later. They ran up the bills and ran away. I guess I'm lucky that they only got me for $78.

And THAT'S why you get this new, in the box CDI for $50. (plus $5 for shipping. For some reason I can't add a shipping cost to this listing. FML)

Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept heading for Detroit

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept (pictured) heading for Detroit The original VW Beetle was a perfect candidate for a Dune Buggy, and many old VWs were converted to blast across sand dunes around the world. VW had a bash at their own Dune Buggy back in 2000, but now, ahead of a reveal at the Detroit Auto Show next week, we have what looks like a buggy from VW that could actually be heading for production – the Volkswagen Beetle Dune Concept. VW has revealed a single image of their Beetle Dune Concept (above) that shows a jacked-up Beetle with big wheels and tyres, a ski rack on the back and a bit of cosmetic titivation.

American Elegance: Duesenbergs and drag cars return for concours at Meadow Brook

Tue, 13 Jul 2010

Cackling and rumbling, roaring and growling, the pair of vintage drag racers rolls onto the brick courtyard--a silver 1965 Dodge Coronet and a gaudy orange '66 “Gas Ronda” Mustang. They're two of the headliners at this year's Concours d'Elegance of America at Meadow Brook. They were followed moments later by a Bugatti Veyron, which almost silently slipped into view, thanks to the clandestine output of its 1,001 hp.
