This chrome hood ornament is about 9 ½ inches long, and is marked with the part number BM 16853-A on the underside.  I’m not sure about the first letter, may be a B or something else.  I’ve seen this hood ornament referred to as a 1950s Ford piece, but I don’t know if that is accurate.  This has both its bolts, but one of the nuts is frozen – I tried some Liquid Wrench and that did not loosen it.  Overall good condition with nice shine, and some pitting and bubbling to the surface in spots.

Tue, 08 Nov 2011

We love one-off specials here at Autoweek almost as much as we love the supercars upon which they're based. And if you're a tuner trying to pick a good chassis, we can't think of a much better place to start than the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. That's what Danish company HBH did for its Bulldog GT.

New Porsche 911 GT3 (991) technical highlights (video)

Mon, 20 May 2013

Ahead of its arrival with customers, Porsche has delivered a new video of the GT3 designed to make it clear just how some of its technical highlights work to make the GT3 swifter and more nimble than ever before. Power is of course the key to the GT3 – 468bhp and 324lb/ft of torque – but the power is no good unless the GT3 can put that power down as efficiently as possible in all circumstances. Porsche assert that the GT3′s chassis is engineered for Motorsport, and key elements of the new GT3 make it even more able.

One Lap of the Web: Mini challenges Porsche; kit cars; and brand loyalty

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. Mini wished the Porsche 911 a happy 50th anniversary.
