COMP Cams® Performance Camshafts
Camshafts are what COMP Cams® is all about. The cam has long been revered as the "brain" of the engine, opening and closing the valves at the exact precise instant, coordinating the timing of each event to the exact location of the crankshaft and piston. The cam also has the remarkable ability of repeating this process over and over, as many times as necessary, in order to keep the engine running at the peak of its capability. Precise overlap events properly introduce raw fuel and expend exhaust. This provides a highly efficient scavenging process, then repeats the entire process all over again on the next stroke. Even more remarkable, the product we produce at COMP Cams® is a highly modified version of the stock, mass produced camshaft, designed to extract the most performance possible from a given application.
Highly trained engineers, and experienced lobe designers work hand in hand producing better, more refined products on a daily basis. Last years product is no longer the standard by which all others are judged. New and better products must be produced to stay ahead of the maximum performance game. In an industry where 2nd place means 1st loser, there is no margin for error. There is no room for 2nd best. This is where COMP Cams® excels, we design and manufacture the winner’s camshafts.
Get Xtreme performance from Comp Cams. Comp Cams Xtreme Energy cam and lifter kits are built to take advantage of the latest cam technology, to provide maximum performance. Whether your use is off-roading, towing, or street performance, there is an Xtreme Energy cam and lifter kit available for you. By using an aggressive lobe profile, these cam kits provide better throttle response and more top-end horsepower than equivalent kits from other manufacturers, while delivering increased engine vacuum.
Yet another Kia Compact Crossover Concept (pictured) heading for Frankfurt
We do seem to have had something of a run of concepts from Kia lately – particularly Compact SUV/Crossover Concepts – but none seem to be heading for production. Already in 2013 we’ve had the Kia Provo Concept, which looked like a suitably funky urban warrior to take on the market the Nissan Juke made its own, even if the ‘Provo’ name caused publicity-seeking politicians to spit and stomp. Following close on the heels of the Provo came the Kia CUB for the Seoul Motor Show (note the cuddly name – Kia didn’t want to shoot themselves in the foot again) which, although entirely convincing, just looked like yet another urban warrior compact crossover/SUV.
Rather than fighting for headlines at NAIAS, Honda debuted its new GEAR Concept at the Montreal International Auto Show. The subcompact GEAR is apparently inspired by fixed-gear bicycles (although quite how is unclear), described as a customizable vehicle that demonstrates the carmaker's way of providing vehicles for young, urban, Gen-Y lifestyles. "Subcompact cars are usually either utilitarian, but uninspiring or they're fun, zippy cars that are impractical and too expensive for the Gen-Y buyer," said Dave Marek, Design Director at Honda R&D Americas, Inc.
The 2014 Mercedes S Class isn’t due to be revealed until 2013, but Mercedes will be teasing it at the Paris Motor Show with a sculpture. New car model teases usually take the form of dark photos or photos showing obscure detail. But Mercedes are taking a different route with the new S Class with an artistic sculpture.
