Audi starts Facebook petition for the TT RS
Mon, 09 Aug 2010Audi of America is doing what it can to convince its German bosses to send the TT RS our way. A petition on the automaker's Facebook page says that “Audi is seriously rethinking its original plans for the range-topping TT model and wants to hear from you.” As of Monday morning, the petition had gathered 3,742 signatures. Currently, the TT line in the United States includes only the TT and the TTS.

You’d be safe taking a punt and guessing it’s not a diesel engine like arch-rivals Audi, but it’s not a naturally aspirated V8 petrol like the one that’ll feature in the new Toyota TS040 either.

It's a further sign that what was once the high-tech preserve of the German brands is now firmly in the mainstream. BMW was one of the brands which pioneered variable-ratio power steering; in essence, it changes the ratio between the driver's inputs at the wheel and the rate at which turns are made at the rack.
