BUILD YOUR OWN
HOT AIR BALLOON
PLANS ON CD !!
This is NOT a MODEL !!

[Stock photo - yours will not look like this.]

OK, stop what you're doing, get out that heavy duty sewing machine and sheers, this is going to put that stuff to some good use!

This CD contains instructional diagrams on how to build your very own hot air balloon. And the stuff it does not tell you, you'll be able to figure that out in no time flat.

The files on the CD include over-all construction drawings, and the ever-important panel layout drawings. The balloon itself is not one-piece. Obviously the shape required when inflated dictates that this thing be cut, then sewn together. Also included are how to mount the ropes that connect the basket to the balloon.

The files on the CD are PDF format, with one file in DOC/Word format.

This is not a particularly difficult project, but it is not something you are going to "whip together" in a couple of days. Time, patience, and careful instruction-following is the watch-word here. The information on the CD will get you started while you go and learn how this thing flies (yes, instruction in flying the balloon is really something you should consider before putting your life in the hands of anything that lifts you off the ground).

Also, please remenber that the CD teaches you how to build the balloon. The burners and basket are best to be pre-bought, however if you are good with those garage tools, you should be able to even do that on your own - just remember to keep it light.

The picture above and to the left is from my extensive collection of stuff and does not represent what your creation will look like once it is done. The diagrams, however, are from the actual files on the CD.

Remember to consult your local laws that govern the in-air operation of craft such as these.
That part is up to you. The plans tell you how to fabricate the balloon; staying out of trouble is your job!

Kia uses wind power to lower emissions and boost economy

Wed, 01 Apr 2009

Kia's new Aero-Soul concept utilises wind power to lower emissions and boost economy [ad#ad-1] In a dramatic, and very cost effective manner, Kia has revealed the new Aero-Soul concept, which aims to drastically reduce Co2 emissions and improve economy by harnessing the power of the wind, in a low-cost solution called Air Propulsion and Retardation Installation Line. In simple terms, the A.P.R.I.L system uses small sensors built in to the front and rear of the car to monitor wind forces, and deploys wind chutes at the front or rear of the car to aid in braking or forward propulsion. So at cruising speeds if the wind behind the car is strong – such as in winter gales – the panels will harness wind power to provide forward motion.
