This is a Ford 9 inch rear end 28 spline Flange-to-flange dimensions about 59" total. The 1969-'77 full-size Ford used the strongest (thickest tubing) rear housing of all the 9-inch Rear ends so I know you`ll be happy with this one. Complete and taken apart just to make sure everything  is as it should be. I bought this rear end off a guy who was building many, crazy dragsters but his shop/property closed, sold, forcing an abrupt sell. He was in the process of cleaning it and installing the rear end into a Pinto when I bought it. If you have any questions please email me. I`ve been here with 100% positive feed back since 2007 The Ford 9-inch is desirable because it has a removable carrier, which allows quick rear end changes. Many racers carry an extra carrier assembly with a different rear end ratio so they can try different combinations on the same day while at the track. Another feature of the 9-inch third member rear end is that there are no carrier breaks. This means you can use just about any rear end ratio you can buy without the added expense of purchasing a larger carrier assembly for large ratios and a smaller carrier for ratios more tailored toward the street or fuel economy.

GM sued for not recalling nonpolice Chevrolet Impalas to fix spindle rods

Wed, 06 Jul 2011

General Motors has been sued by the owner of a Chevrolet Impala who claims the company recalled police versions of the sedan to fix a tire-wear issue but did not recall civilian Impalas for the same problem. According to the suit, filed in Detroit, GM issued a recall for police Impalas in 2008 for faulty spindle rods, which misaligned the rear wheels and led to premature tire wear. GM told dealers to replace the spindle rods, realign the rear wheels and replace the tires.
