UK car sales grow for first time in 15 months

The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, which collates registration figures, claimed that the scrappage scheme was responsible for the jump. Paul Everitt, SMMT chief executive, said: ‘The impact of the scrappage scheme is clear and we are encouraged by the positive impact it has had, increasing new car registrations since April 2008.

AS Ford’s iconic Mustang celebrates its 50th anniversary, a1964 Mustang 1/2 Coupe, produced as part of the earliest production run of the iconic car, is ready to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale on May 24th. Regarded as the purest of all Mustangs, this rare car, estimated between £14,000 to £18,000, was built at Ford's Dearborn Michigan plant on 26th June 1964. Crucially it still has its original 260CI V8 Engine and Cruise-O-Matic transmission.

Lamborghini’s driving simulator for the Huracan (pictured) The Gallardo’s long-awaited replacement – the Lamborghini Huracan – finally arrived just before Christmas after a long and tedious tease. But it was worth the wait and putting up with Lamborghini’s feeble attempts at a viral tease. With looks that draw the Huracan in to the family design of the Aventador, permanent 4WD and 602bhp from its 5.2 litre V10, the Huracan promises a decent fight for the Ferrari 458 and McLaren 12C (or should that be the McLaren 650S?) with 0-62mph in 3.2 seconds and over 200mph.
