Once warm the bypass valve opens and releases the transmission fluid to the oil cooler. This is most often the cause of the "mystery whining/tapping noise" coming from under the passenger seat. The noise is caused from the bi-metal strip not closing properly and the fluid draining backwards. What you see in the picture is what you’ll be getting.
