Call to cut school run car journeys

A 10% CUT in school run car journeys would boost Britain's economy by around £46 million a year, a sustainable transport charity has claimed. Sustrans, which is calling on the Government to formally recognise the right of every child to be able to walk or cycle to school safely, estimates that ferrying children to school by car accounts for 24% of peak time traffic. Using Department for Transport modelling to calculate the financial drain on business caused by rush-hour congestion, Sustrans estimated that a 14% reduction in car use for school runs would take 167,000 vehicles off the road with an annual "saving" of £66.2 million.

BMW reveals M3 GT2-based Art Car

This brightly coloured beast is BMW’s latest Art Car, and the company's entry into this year’s Le Mans 24hrs. Based on the M3 GT2, the 17th Art Car has been designed by Jeff Koons and was unveiled last night at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. 2014 Michelin Challenge Design jury meets to select winners

The 2014 Michelin Challenge Design judging panel has selected the top three entries of its ‘Driven/Undriven' contest after an intense two-day session at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. On the first day, the jurors discussed each individual submission before whittling them down to just 15 finalists. Their work will be presented at the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit in January 2014 as part of the Michelin Challenge Design exhibit.
