Here is a very nice, complete tool kit for the Mercedes 190sl 220s 220se and others. Every item is 100% original other than the paper tire gauge insert and the U-shape mounting tool. The U-shape tool is a repro, but one of the best I have ever seen. It is spot on size, shape, curvature of an OEM one. The wrap is really one of the better ones. It is unique because there are ZERO puncture holes---very rare to find that. It also has a full-length Herringbone tie string.

The OEM black oxide wrenches are particularly nice with  similar lettering, color, shine and patina  and come in the correct sizes in mm:  19/17, 17/14, 14/11, 10/9.  I bought them together from one source.  Each wrench is Dowidat--no mix and match with other tool makers.  The correct original  Dowidat 12mm completes the set. The Hazet  767 spark plug wrench, also marked Mercedes with part number, comes with the grooved turning handle  insert.  The Dowidat 14mm drain wrench is excellent, also marked with part number and "Mercedes". The correct "Will" pliers open and close smoothly.  The rare and valuable wooden screwdriver is exceptional and  comes with matched black oxide pins: one a Phillips and one slot, both correctly   marked "FELO-DBGM".  They fit tightly into the OEM wooden handle for use.  The Mercedes fuse box with logo  is there full of the correct amp white fuses.

This set includes the rare, original INBUS 6mm Allen  wrench in exceptional condition.  Finally, the Hazet M-33 tire tool is included. It has the detent ball bearing AND the stop is in place to properly prevent the sleeve from sliding all the way down the shaft. It crisply snaps open the correct amount to expose the perfect, undamaged, hub cap tip, then shuts tight when you are done, just like it is supposed to.

Included is a nice Messko Hauser "Mercedes Benz" gauge in the desirable 40psi for the US market. [If you would rather have the 3.0 bar, I will be happy to substitute.]  The blue wooden box with logo opens, closes and snaps shut as it should.

No-hassle 14 day right of return for any reason. Talk a look at my feedback---lots of happy customers of authentic Mercedes tool kits. I ship within 24 hours of payment.  US buyers add $16 for insured shipping with signature. All others pay $70 for Express Mail, signature required.  [My insurance carrier will only cover Express Mail overseas.]  Any questions or  thoughts? Call Bill at 304-389-3900 EST.

BMW M5 manual mess-up

Sat, 27 Jan 2007

By Chris chilton Motor Industry 27 January 2007 01:34 North American customers were delighted when BMW bowed to their demands for a full three-pedal manual version of the current V10 M5 super saloon, but aren’t quiet so enamoured with the finished product. The issue is not with the gearbox itself – BMW successfully replaced the European model’s seven-speed SMG box with the old-shape M5’s six-speed manual – but with the compromises that were needed to get there. Without the benefit of computer control for the opening and closing of the clutch plates, M division’s engineers couldn’t eliminate axle tramp under hard take-offs.
