You've found the original hydraulic repair kit for your Mercedes SL soft top. This is the kit that works--and the one that comes with instructions. See our feedback for proof.

Got a leak in one or more of the hydraulic actuators that raise, lower, and lock your SL500 or 500SL roof? Here are the parts to repair it.

This comprehensive set of 20 o-rings is what you need to rebuild all 11 (or 12, depending on year) of your car roof's hydraulic cylinders. Because of changes made by Mercedes during the R129 chassis' run, We have included all the possible combinations of o-rings needed--regardless of year or model.

The o-rings in the kit are organized by cylinder, so you know which ones go to which cylinders. These o-rings are composed of Nitrile rubber, which is impervious to the Mercedes hydraulic fluid--unlike the OEM parts and competitors' parts. This repair will last a lifetime. The Nitrile simply doesn't break down like the faulty Mercedes polyurethane
u-cup seals--which you are currently dealing with--and those of competitors. How many times do you want to fix the same problem? Just once? Buy this kit and worry no more.

Yes, this project IS easy enough for DIYers. Just ask any of my THOUSANDS of satisfied customers. Don’t let anyone convince you otherwise with fear, uncertainty, and doubt (FUD) marketing. In a recent customer-satisfaction survey, 100 percent of responding customers indicated that this project was simple to do and that years later the o-rings are still working perfectly.

This kit is designed for all vehicles built on the Mercedes R129 chassis:
1993 - 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL280
1990 - 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300SL
1990 - 1993 Mercedes-Benz 300SL-24
1994 - 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL320
1990 - 1993 Mercedes-Benz 500SL
1994 - 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL500
1993 - 1993 Mercedes-Benz 600SL
1994 - 2002 Mercedes-Benz SL600

A set of basic instructions and links to online resources is included. (The competition simply sends you a bag of mis-sized o-rings and expects you to make do.)

Concept Car of the Week: Chevrolet Express (1987)

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

A fantastic selection of concept cars from the ‘80s were featured in Back to the Future II such as the Pontiac Pursuit, the Ford Probe or the Saab EV-1, but my personal favorite was the Chevrolet Express that almost ran over Marty upon his arrival in the year 2015. Before being a movie extra, the Express was presented in 1987 as another attempt from GM to adapt aircraft engineering to automotive requirements. GM had been experimenting with gas turbines for more than 20 years, dating back to the 370hp XP-21 Firebird from 1954, but that concept was quite primitive compared to its younger brother.

McLaren F1: Ron Dennis considered building more orginal F1s to rake in cash

Sun, 18 Mar 2012

McLaren F1 - Ron Dennis mulled producing more cars McLaren boss Ron Dennis has confessed he considered cashing in on the current price of the original McLaren F1 by building more. The price of an original McLaren F1 is nothing short of stratospheric. Prices of £3 million, £4 million and more have been paid for one of the 64 F1 cars McLaren made in the 1990s.

Ford Cortina: 50 years ago today…

Fri, 21 Sep 2012

Ford are celebrating 50 years since the first Ford Cortina was launched and changed the car landscape forever. The Ford Cortina went on to sell an impressive 4.3 million during its twenty year life, eventually turning in to the Ford Sierra and then in to the Ford family car of today – the 2013 Ford Mondeo (which, interestingly, can be had with the 1.0 litre EcoBoost engine – smaller even than the 1200cc of that first Cortina). That first Cortina was the start of Ford’s dominance of the UK car market, leading to an unbroken run of 35 years as the best selling car brand with most of the Cortinas, almost 3 million of them, built at Dagenham – in the days Ford actually built cars here.
