Made in ISO 9002 factory to original Chrysler blueprints!

NEW electronic ignition distributor, complete with pickup coil, reluctor, cap, rotor, etc. Performance mechanical and vacuum advance curves. ready to drop in!

If you've had trouble with idle, detonation, etc., with the 2000-2013 Mopar Performance distributors, this is your fix! The MP distributors of that era were really Accel GM HEI guts miniaturized into a Chrysler housing, which caused no end of problems. This unit is the original '70s Chrysler "Indianapolis plant" bulletproof design, right down to "heavy" advance weights and the oiler wick beneath the rotor (add a few drops of motor oil yearly). This is the good stuff, even the beefy metal shaft collar and blueprinted thrust washer stack!

I had it made as a duplicate of the 440 A-134 hi-po specs, definitiely 2-stage springs, a true street performance curve:

Less than 4 deg. mechanical adv. below 650 RPM (for cranking)

approx. 8 deg. at 950 (fast idle)

Approx 13 deg. at 2500 (HP)

Vacuum: near-zero at 10" vac

9-10 deg @ 15" (fuel economy / no oil dilution)

Note that these numbers are all DISTRIBUTOR degrees, double for crankshaft degrees.

For most setups you'd want to run initial around 8 crank degrees BTDC. Feel free, of course, to rework the advance curve to fit special applications (crazy hot cam, etc.)

Add low-cost S&H per calculator (tab above); shipped worldwide.

Thanks,
Rick

New ‘flash-for-cash’ insurance scam warning

Fri, 16 Aug 2013

Newspress Motorists are being warned about the rise of a new type of ‘crash-for-cash’ insurance scam dubbed ‘flash-for-cash’, which involves criminals flashing their headlights to let innocent victims out of side roads, then driving straight into them. Flash-for-cash incidents are said to be costing the UK car insurance industry £392 million a year – which means the scam is adding as much as £50-£100 to every ordinary driver’s insurance policy. Car insurance – scams and mythsMassive car insurance fraudsCompare car insurance As with better-known cash-for-crash schemes, where a criminal deliberately brakes their car for no reason so the person behind crashes into them, the major problem with tackling this kind of crime is that it’s difficult to prove.

Porsche 911 Safari SUV Crossover heading for Beijing Motor Show

Thu, 26 Dec 2013

Porsche 911 Safari SUV Crossover heading for Beijing Motor Show Porsche anoraks bemoaned the arrival of the Porsche Cayenne SUV as a sacrilege, but its overwhelming success has allowed Porsche to garner huge profits and plough a chunk of those in to keeping the iconic 911 relevant, appealing and cutting-edge. It’s also allowed Porsche to take the Audi Q5 and turn it in to what appears to be a hugely capable and appealing baby Cayenne in the guise of the new Porsche Macan, but it seems Porsche is planning another SUV step with a model that really does seem a  step too far – a Porsche 911 SUV. Auto Bild’s Motor Revue is reporting that a Porsche 911 Safarai is heading for the Beijing Motor Show in April 2014 sporting bigger wheels and tyres and a raised suspension to deliver a 911 Crossover.

Toyota FT-CH Concept – a new ‘Small & Sporty’ Toyota Prius

Mon, 11 Jan 2010

The Toyota FT-CH Concept - a stumpy Prius Toyota held a 25 minute press conference this morning at the Detroit Motor Show to tell the assembled throng of journos that it’s going to make lots of Hybrids. Once everyone picked themselves up off the floor after the shock of that revelation, Toyota went on to say that the Toyota FT-CH Concept they were unveiling was a look at the future of Toyota’s hybrid cars and would be part of an extended family of Prius models. Will we ever recover from such shocking revelations?
