While the Mini Countryman might be destined for suburban mumsville, BMW has confirmed the new model will also terrorise the countryside in the form of the WRC Mini from 2011, with IRC champ Kris Meeke at the wheel. Officially launched at the 2010 Paris motor show in concept guise, the WRC Mini will be engineered and run by motorsport doyen Dave Richards and his Prodrive outfit, although customer packages will be available too, allowing independents to compete in the car. Caterham Cars offers free 40-year anniversary package

Caterham Cars, the U.K.-based maker of lightweight track-day vehicles, will celebrate 40 years building the legendary Seven with a free option package for the open-wheel roadster. The package is available starting today, but only for the first 40 orders of the Seven or its variants. Rights to the Seven were acquired by Graham Nearn from Lotus legend Colin Chapman in 1973.

Volvo celebrates SCC's 10th anniversary

Volvo is celebrating the legacy of its Safety Concept Car 10 years after its release. The Volvo SCC, first unveiled at the 2001 Detroit auto show, contained around 15 of the advanced technical solutions still found in Volvo models today. The SCC also inspired the design of the successful Volvo C30 model, which debuted in Paris in 2006.
