Porsche watch out! This is the new Nissan GT-R SpecV, with lighter exterior bodywork, a stripped-out interior and more grunt from the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6 engine. It's just been unveiled in Japan, costs over £100k and Nissan says the new car is ‘targeted specifically at enthusiast drivers who desire race car-level performance in a street-legal vehicle’.
BMW i3 Range Extender engine adds 10% to the price
The BMW i3 – BMW’s first foray in to a world of electric cars – was officially revealed in July – and due on sale in 2014 – and seems, by electric car standards, to be almost affordable. At a starting price of £30,680 – £25,680 after the taxpayer bribe for EV buyers – it’s no more expensive than other electric cars and does come with some clever technology – and the BMW badge – that will help it move out of showrooms. But as we reported as far back as 2011, the BMW i3 is to get a range-extender option – a small petrol engine that kicks in to recharge the batteries when they get low – which will make the i3 a much more practical proposition.
AS Ford’s iconic Mustang celebrates its 50th anniversary, a1964 Mustang 1/2 Coupe, produced as part of the earliest production run of the iconic car, is ready to go under the hammer at Silverstone Auctions’ May Sale on May 24th. Regarded as the purest of all Mustangs, this rare car, estimated between £14,000 to £18,000, was built at Ford's Dearborn Michigan plant on 26th June 1964. Crucially it still has its original 260CI V8 Engine and Cruise-O-Matic transmission.
