The spotlight event is always a favorite of designers to mingle, network and ponder their craft over drinks and light fare. But this month’s CAR Magazine – on sale now – reveals the new game’s hero car, the ultimate track racer designed by Red Bull and GT coders Polyphony. The 249mph racer, the Red Bull X1 prototype, is a collaboration between legendary F1 designer Adrian Newey and Kazunori Yamauchi, the genius behind Gran Turismo.

Dubbed SportCoupe, the new car offers a unique silhouette and the first seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox in the supermini class. The SportCoupe takes inspiration from the Bocanegra concept, unveiled earlier in 2008 at the Geneva motor show, although it somehow seems to have lost the wow factor of that slinky show special.
