Rolls and Aston plan new convertibles

ROLLS-ROYCE and Aston Martin have both announced exciting new convertible models, giving workers at the UK-based car makers a welcome boost to their job security. Aston is set to début a new member of the Vantage family, after shoe-horning a V12 engine into an open-top body to create the V12 Vantage S Roadster. It will make its public entrance at the Pebble Beach Auto Week in California, starting on August 14.

Lexus debuts dedicated HS 250h hybrid at the Detroit auto show

Lexus is no stranger to hybrids, with green offshoots of the GS and LS sedans and RX SUV currently in showrooms. However, joining them this summer is Lexus's first dedicated hybrid, the HS 250h, which made its debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The new entry-luxury sedan slots between the IS and ES in the Lexus range.

The CDN-GM Interactive Design Contest is now open, so it's time to pick up your pencils, sketchbooks and tablets for the chance to win one of four three-month paid internships at one of GM's design studios.  Open to all full-time college or university students with at least one term left from across North America, this contest is a great chance to get noticed by one of the world's biggest carmakers and be used as a springboard for your car design career. You have until 1 November to submit your designs, but judges want to see your progress as well your final entry. They will be looking for proof of your thought process, project development and overall progress using customer and market research as well as inspiration and mood boards.
