Vauxhall and Opel 'not for sale' - CEO Akerson

GM chief executive Dan Akerson has overnight dismissed claims that its Vauxhall/Opel European division is for sale. CAR's European editor Georg Kacher, and media outlets in Germany, reported last month that German chancellor Angela Merkel had weighed in to the debate and encouraged Volkswagen to step in and take GM Europe off GM's hands. Vauxhall and Opel have also been linked to a possible sale to the Chinese.

Foreign language theory test scrapped

FROM TODAY the driving test in the UK must be taken in English or Welsh, after long-standing rules permitting foreign language speakers to sit the test were removed. Theory tests have previously been available with voiceovers in 19 foreign languages and candidates could use an interpreter on both the theory and practical driving tests. But changes that come into effect today were introduced after a consultation showed more than 70% supported the withdrawal of foreign language voiceovers and interpreters.

Honda CR-Z – Euro debut at Geneva

Honda are bringing the production version of the CR-Z hybrid to the Geneva Motor Show Honda are attempting to make the hybrid car ‘Sporty’ with the Honda CR-Z. First seen at the Tokyo Motor Show last year and in US production form at Detroit last month, Europe gets to see the Euro production version of the CR-Z at the Geneva Motor Show next month. We’re finding it a bit difficult to get our heads round the idea that this is a ‘Sporty’ hybrid.
