Think of it as mad science for speed maniacs. This is pro gear that puts serious protection between you and the firestorm that’s waiting to be unleashed. It’s a two-layer design with the shielding of NOMEX, the same material that protects firefighters as they rush into burning buildings. The inner layer is a comfortably plush knit of 100% meta-aramide. Performance is essential, so we added fire-resistant stretch panels to give you a full range of movement. Coil Over 2 is finished with patterned quilting, boot cut legs and stock car racing style cuffs.

Fire Protection:

  • Two-layer design with 7 oz. Carbon X materials throughout.
SFI Safety Rating:
  • The Coil Over 2 meets or exceeds the latest in professional racing safety standards. The Coil Over 2 has an SFI safety rating of 3.25A/5 ensuring the utmost protection.
Anatomical Engineering:
  • Breathable fire-resistant stretch panels in the back and shoulders provide maximum support and comfort.

Imre Molnar's lasting legacy

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

When I hear people use the words "senseless" or "tragic" to qualify death, the grammarian in me shudders. It seems they're modifying an absolute -- like saying "very unique," which by the definition of unique means one of a kind and can't be modified further. Of course, the majority of deaths are senseless and tragic, so to qualify it darkens the lily.

CDN announces second edition of Car Design Glossary

Mon, 01 Sep 2008

Car Design New has now published the second edition of the Car Design Glossary. Designed to enable budding designers  - and those wishing to describe the products of the designer's imagination - to decipher the language used in automotive studios, the Glossary was devised by David Browne, Course Director of Automotive Design at Coventry University School of Art & Design. He created the compilation of terms as an academic piece of research and collaborated with CDN to help generate feedback on these terms from designers themselves.

Renault Twin’Z Concept previews 2014 Renault Twingo

Mon, 08 Apr 2013

The Renault Twin’Z Concept, designed by British designer Ross Lovegrove, is an electric city car previewing the 2014 Renault Twingo. The Renault Twin’Z Concept is a small, just 3623mm long, urban runaround with a small electric motor good for 67bhp and 167lb/ft of torque  and weighing in at 980kg, complete with a fairly sophisticated double wishbone suspension and relatively long wheelbase with a wheel at each corner stance. The Twin’Z is very much a concept car - designed by British designer Ross Lovegrove – and comes complete with the usual concept fripperies like electric suicide doors, cameras instead of rear view mirrors, sweeping LED lights, a solid crystal rear spoiler and big, complicated alloys.
