You are purchasing a very good used Original Equipment Lucas headlamp switch and steering cowl assembly for the Austin A-40, Saloon 1959-60 and Countryman 1960.

This is in very good condition. It has be taken apart and cleaned, the cowl stripped and repainted, reassembled and tested and it works in all positions and there is power to the horn. The chrome handle and stalk are good, some scratches but no rust or pitting (4th photo is a close up). It is marked Lucas Made in England.

Please look at the last 3 photos which show the switch body, part number on the switch and the info from a old Lucas parts manual.

Our friends over at Jalopnik are currently at Jaguar F-Type media event over in Seattle, where they had a chance to catch up with its design Wayne Burgess (check out our full interview with him here), who revealed some interesting sources of inspiration for some of its detailing. The first is a real easter egg - a detail that once you've discovered it you can't help but see - the front lamp cans are based on Star Wars' TIE Fighter. What has been seen can not be unseen.

Having thus immersed ourselves in the House That Ettore Built, we'd really like to drive to work in a faithful Type 35 replica by the aptly named Pur Sang, which Mark Dixon of Octane drove for his 140-mile commute.
