The Rolls Royce Brake Accumulator is a high strength steel alloy sphere about the size of a grapefruit.  The two hemispheres are separated by a rubber diaphragm; One side is charged with 1000 psi of nitrogen gas which pushes the diaphragm up against the other side.  Brake fluid is pumped into the other side and is stored there at high pressure.  The rebuilt unit is disassembled and cleaned; a new diaphragm is installed; the sphere is reassembled and charged with nitrogen.  Each rebuilt unit is tested at 3000 psi to satisfy hazardous material regulations.

The accumulator cannot be shipped until a core unit has been shipped to Howerton Associates at 2582 Wood Trail Lane, Decatur, GA 30033.  Please note that the core must be depressurized before shipment and all brake fluid must be removed from the unit.  We will email instructions on this when we have received payment.

A glitch in the BMW Comfort Access keyless-entry and ignition system is responsible for the problem.

German Parts Pillagers Roam the American Southwest, Sending Treasures Home For Future Car Museum

Tue, 08 Apr 2014

Quite a few older European cars are purchased in rust-free parts of the United States and then shipped back to the home continent, and this process tends to intensify when the Euro gets stronger versus the dollar. While that's going on, crews of European gearheads also roam the wrecking yards of the Southwest, filling shipping containers with parts to ship back home; I know of a trio of Swedes who come to Colorado every year and ship home tons of parts, but they've got nothing on this pair of Germans. These gentlemen fly to the United States four times each year, spending two or three weeks each trip, and send home cars and shipping containers packed with parts, all as part of a scheme to open up a car collection showcasing "cars from the road." They were kind enough to send me a bunch of photos of their most recent trip, so let's see what their enviable lifestyle looks like.
