The craft is a high wing taildragger with a tractor engine. Seating is tandem with dual controls. While the craft was designed to handle both the 503 and 582 Rotax.

My choice would be the 582 65 HP. The kit comes complete with full size plans for the fuselage and tail sections. Sub assembly kits are also available.

The craft can also be built from a set of plans. Building time from kit form is 450 to 600 hours while plane built times are 12 to 1600 hours.

The cabin is a comfortable , with plenty of head room. Controls are stick and rudder.

When powered by the 582 Rotax cruise is 75/80 m.p.h., climb 850 feet per minute and stall just over 35 m.p.h.. The manufacturer indicates that the designs structural limits are +4.5 and -3G's.

The LM-5 design is rendered in wood or optionally aluminum and covered in doped aircraft fabric. The aircraft are sold as plans, with components or complete kits also available to speed construction time.

Unlike the company's LM-1 series which are scale representations of famous general aviation aircraft, the LM-5 series are the same size as the PA-18 that they resemble.

Yup - I'm on here. We can sell a pre-cut fuse tube kit or tack welded, now that we have the kit at that stage. We'll be in Sebring, God willing, with a airframe on gear.

I looked at the wooden LMA kits before - they are nice to work with if you don't have any metal working skills.

Don't discount the wooden fuse structure - I spent some time building a CAP-21 - a 20 foot long wooden cabinet disguised as an airplane and stressed for competition aerobatics.

Wide-ranging, weird and wonderful John Scotti Collection to cross block in Auburn

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

The John Scotti Collection is, we'd like to think, exactly the sort of assemblage of cars we would put together were we a mechanic who earned his fortune building a group of successful Montreal-based car dealerships. To be sure, the collection of roughly 450 cars represents Scotti's tastes, which seem to tend toward the muscular. But the man, who sells everything from Mitsubishis to Lamborghinis, did an admirable job branching out from the standbys that seem to fill the ranks of every large collection, finding room for both the commonplace and the strange.

How Porsche will be integrated into VW

Fri, 20 Nov 2009

By Georg Kacher Motor Industry 20 November 2009 12:32 Although Porsche won't be a fully integrated member of the Volkswagen group before mid-2011, the sports car maker can even at this early point in the merger no longer make independent strategic decisions. After all, Martin Winterkorn has effectively been appointed head of the Porsche SE Holding which in turn employs the Porsche AG chairman Michael Macht.  With a takeover as costly and complicated to fund as this one – all in all, VW will have to fork out a staggering €16 billion to absorb the latest family member – it is only logical that the new owner wants to get the restructuring process going asap. Overnight, Porsche has become easily VW's most expensive brand. How VW will integrate PorscheTo protect and eventually enhance its value, the powers in Wolfsburg will leave no stone unturned to rearrange the product portfolio, to streamline R&D, to shake up purchasing and production, and to ensure a variety of synergies which are estimated to range from €500m to €750m per year.

Mini celebrates 50 years since Monte win

Wed, 29 Jan 2014

IT'S 50 years since the iconic Mini Cooper S won the Monte Carlo Rally and to mark the occasion the famous car and its driver have been brought back together. Paddy Hopkirk took the Mini to its maiden win on the Monte Carlo Rally, and the car went on to win again in 1965 and 1967. It should also have won in 1966, but it was denied due to a technical infringement with its lights.
