TWO WOOD LATHES
YOU CAN BUILD

PLANS ON CD
You will be purchasing a CD containing two different plan sets.

Ball Bearing Wood Lathe:
This lathe is treadle driven (yes, human powered!) and with the exception of turned wood pulleys and the form to cast a flywheel, you will build this treadle lathe with just a few hand tools! This is designed to allow you to be in a sitting position while operating the finished machine.

Powered Wood Lathe:
This lathe is powered using a 1/4 hp motor and has a faceplate capacity of roughly 8.5 inches capable of accepting a workpiece up to 34 inches between centers. The tail-stock and tool rest are clamped using lever operated bolts, which removes the requirement for a wrench. Simple! Low cost!! And a very practical choice for the beginner!!!

The plans on this CD are in PDF (Acrobat) format. Readers for this document type are freely available on the internet should you not already have one installed on your computer.

The A1's starting price is 15,800 euros ($20,873) in Germany.

Tue, 01 Nov 2011

You can imagine how Subaru must have been feeling as partner Toyota hogged the headlines with its FT-86. But at long last, someone at Subaru has seen sense and decided to issue an official picture of the new BRZ coupe. This is the Subaru BRZ Concept STi – a rather obviously production-ready glimpse of the new rear-wheel drive coupe, co-developed between Subaru parent Fuji Heavy Industries and Toyota.
