Londoners buy most under 100g/km CO2 cars in UK

Tue, 19 Jul 2011

The sub 100g/km Alfa MiTo - money saving - not 'Green' - for London motorists Well, I’ll go to the foot of our stairs, as my dad might have said. Londoners are the most eco-minded car buyers in the UK. That is the conclusion of a report released today by Ecovelocity, organisers of a ‘Dynamic Festival of Green Motoring’ planned for September 8-11th at Battersea Power station.

Campaign for Fair Car Insurance Renewals

Mon, 30 Apr 2012

Privilege & Zurich - 2 of the worst offenders in our small sample Cars UK are calling for Insurance Companies to quote their ‘Online’ price for car insurance as a comparison when insurance renewal letters are sent. Car Insurance is big news, with prices rising by 40 per cent in the last year according to the AA, and cash-strapped motorists struggling to meet the soaring costs of insuring their car. Shopping around for a car insurance quote is undoubtedly the best way to make sure you get the best price possible, but for many that’s difficult, and many older drivers want to stay loyal to ‘their’ insurance company.

Vauxhall Corsa gets a 2010 eco facelift

Thu, 19 Nov 2009

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 19 November 2009 00:01 Blink and you'll miss it – but your accountant won't. The new 2010 model year Vauxhall Corsa has been nipped and tucked, tweaked and polished to produce an impressive average 13% fuel saving across the range.Five out of the six Corsa engines now produce less than 125g/km and the 2010 Corsa Ecoflex diesel now manages up to 76.3mpg (on the Government's not-especially-representative combined figures). How have they made the Corsas so much cleaner?Just good old-fashioned engine tuning, apparently. Most models also come with an eco gearshift indicator to guilt-trip drivers into shifting up at the earliest opportunity.Vauxhall claims it'll sell more sub-125g/km cars than any other model range in the UK in 2010; all manual gearbox Corsas will qualify for free tax discs from next spring when Britain's new VED rates come into force.Anything else new on the 2010 Corsa? It's not just fuel-saving, miser-making tips.
