Mazda2 2010 Update?

Fri, 09 Oct 2009

The Mazda2 from Thailand - featuring a Mazda3 style nose Does this new nose – which follows the theme of the very good Mazda3 – forecast an update for the Mazda2 in the rest of the world that hasn’t happened yet? It seems more than likely. It would be very odd for Mazda to produce the Mazda2 in Thailand with a nose that matches the Mazda3, and then leave it alone for the rest of the world.

Aston Martin showrooms go Hi-Tec

Wed, 10 Dec 2008

I’m not too sure it will help much with sales at the moment, but it has been announced that Aston Martin are to become the first company to use Microsoft’s Surface Device in UK Car showrooms. The Surface device is in essence a glitzy coffee table, with a built in PC running the new software from Microsoft. Based on the software Aston Martin currently uses on its website, the device allows the salesman to configure the car on a coffee table screen, with changes of colour and wheels showing on the screen.

Volkswagen hits back, weighs making a bid for Porsche

Thu, 23 Apr 2009

Volkswagen is considering an audacious reverse-takeover bid for its majority shareholder, Porsche, in a twist in the drawn-out struggle for control between the two German carmakers. The Volkswagen Group's supervisory board is said to be weighing the possibility of purchasing Porsche AG, in a move that would relieve its holding company, Porsche SE, of massive debt that industry analysts suggest the company may not be able to fund should the world's financial crisis drag on well into 2010--a scenario put forward this week by the International Monetary Fund. The secret plan emerged as shareholders were set to convene at Volkswagen's annual meeting on Thursday, and it comes after Porsche revealed that it is carrying some 9 billion euros ($11.73 billion) in debt, most of it owing to interest on loans taken out to purchase its 50.8 percent stake in VW.
