If you want an idea of how important the Beijing motor show has become, get this: Toyota showed 38 production and concept cars in China this week. But two stood out: the Yundong Shuangqing and Dear Qin concept cars. Great names!

Yes, they’ve made things more difficult for themselves by not having team orders, but a one-two from Vettel and Webber – with Vettel ahead – ties up the constructors world championship in Red Bull’s favour, but leaves the drivers’ championship open. If Red Bull had taken a leaf out of the Ferrari book of driver management – or frankly any other experienced team at this stage of the championship – they would have had Vettel give way to Webber and left themselves at the top of the drivers championship just a point behind third place Alonso going in to the last race.

Citroen has teamed up with Mitsubishi again for its new compact SUV. The new Citroen C4 Aircross is based on Mitsu's ASX crossover and goes on UK sale in the second half of 2012. Citroen and Mitsubishi has form here; they collaborated on the C-Crosser (based on the Outlander) and the C-Zero electric car.
