Alfa MiTo TwinAir arrives

Mon, 16 Jul 2012

Alfa Romeo has bolted the 875cc TwinAir engine from the Fiat 500 in to the MiTo to produce a congestion charge busting new MiTo. The new Alfa Romeo MiTo TwinAir is a logical move by Alfa to produce a MiTo with green credentials but which still offer a decent drive and a dose of fun. I’ve had to concede that maybe it’s not entirely realistic to want a petrol V8 in every car I drive, and there are now some very convincing diesel lumps around. They don’t sing like a good petrol lump, but the big wodge of torque most have really does go a very long way to compensate.

Audi R8

Tue, 03 Oct 2006

Audi has unveiled the new R8 supercar, closely based on the Le Mans concept that was shown three years ago in Frankfurt. The two-seat car uses a shortened version of the Lamborghini Gallardo platform, and is powered by a 4.2-liter V8 using FSI technology first introduced by the A2. Like the now-obsolete small car the R8 is also constructed of an aluminum space-frame, keeping weight down to 1360kg.
