Mercedes-Benz today unveiled the new SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive at the 2012 Paris motor show - the production supercar EV derived from the SLS E-Cell concept car. It thrusts Mercedes right into the thick of the race for green supercars, jostling for attention with the forthcoming McLaren P1, Ferrari Enzo successor, Honda NSX, Porsche 918 and Jaguar C-X75. However, Merc has leapfrogged many of its competitors since the SLS AMG Coupe Electric Drive goes on sale in summer 2013 exactly as you see here.

New Mercedes ML63 AMG (2012) revealed ahead of LA Show Just a five months on from the debut of the 2012 Mercedes M Class we now get the bonkers version revealed ahead of the 2011 Los Angeles Motor Show – the 202 Mercedes ML63 AMG. Teased last week on Mercedes’ Facebook page, the new ML63 is exactly what we expected from the quickest SUV Mercedes has ever produced. As expected the ML63 gets the new Mercedes twin-turbo 5.5 litre V8.In the ML63 it delivers 518bhp and 516lb/ft of torque enough, Mercedes say, to dispatch the 0-60mph sprint in a ridiculous 4.7 seconds and on to a limited 155mpoh top speed.

Lotus planning Electric Car

I suppose it was inevitable that Lotus would not settle for simply supplying Tesla with the chassis for their electric car, and would look to jump on the bandwagon of electric cars (EV). Lotus CEO, Michael Kimberly, has told the Financial Times that Lotus is planning an electric car “sooner rather than later”, and went on to say that it will be an extended range battery vehicle. Extended range EVs (like the Chevy Volt) are probably the best option for a mainstream car at the moment, at least until you can buy hydrogen at the pumps other than in California.
