Winners named in teen-safety video contest

Sometimes, the best way to get a teen's attention is to let another teen do the talking. Especially when it involves a subject such as driver safety, which many teens tend to tune out as just another lecture from parents. Tire maker Bridgestone Americas adopted the teens-talking-to-teens philosophy in 2006 with its Safety Scholars video contest.

Theory driving test cost to be cut

THE COST of the written part of the driving test is to be reduced, the Government has announced. Under Government plans, which are now out for consultation, the cost of sitting the theory section of the test will be reduced from £31 to £25 from October 2014, with a further drop of drop of £2 planned in October 2015. The proposals could save learner drivers in excess of £100 million over the next nine years.

The new BMW X1 on the road for the first time The X1 is designed to be a proper, compact SUV, aimed at a younger market, with less to spend, than most of BMW’s current offerings.
