CAR scoop: BMW and Toyota's joint sports car plot

Fri, 13 Sep 2013

BMW is buddying up with Toyota on an all-new sports car platform, set to underpin the replacements for the Z4, 6-series and GT86. The unlikely collaboration stems from an alliance that began in 2011, where BMW and Toyota agreed to co-develop next-generation lithium ion batteries, and for Toyota to use BMW’s fourpot diesels in its European cars. An engineering team is beavering away on the project, with the clock ticking: the suits want to outline the car’s specification before the end of 2013. First new Saab rolls off the production line

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

A NEW SAAB car has rolled off the Swedish production line for the first time in two and a half years. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the Hong Kong-based company that bought Saab out of bankruptcy in September last year, presented its new 9-3 Aero at the factory in Trollhattan. The company, also called NEVS, aims to make electric cars under the Saab brand, but said it will also provide petrol cars until "electric cars fully meet customer demands." The first 200 cars will be delivered in spring costing 279,000 kronor (£26,000) each.

So what better way than to have the biggest James Bond car exhibition – in the world – to celebrate fifty years of James Bond films? That’s exactly what is being planned by the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu and EON Productions (they of the James Bond films), who plan to exhibit more James Bond cars in one place than ever before – and for the whole of 2012.
