This  is a new/fresh build 572 bbc. Pictures should tell most of the story. It starts with a Dart big M block Honed and prepped to 4.500 bore. If you don't know about the big M, it has priority main oiling, tall deck [10.2] and high nickel content to inrease the blocks hardness and durability. Dart recommends a standard volume oil pump; which is the result of their approach to address the weak points of the big block. A high volume pump may be used but the oil galley plugs must be removed to install plugs drilled .080 to .100 below the outside plugs to restrict oil volume to the top end. the threads for the inner plugs are easily seen after removal of outside plugs. os plugs mustthen be reinstalled. fyi the os plugs are the large blue ones behind the big cam gear. I chose to leave the oil pump off/up to the buyer to decide which way they want to go with oiling and the pan as well. that is all related and has to be a well thought out matter with parts interlocked together in the same process. The rotating assembly, which is internally balanced is made up with flat top thick deck/blower je pistons, 6.405 Manley rods, and a 4.500 stroke 4340 steel crank; main and rod bearings are premium Mahle/Clevite high performance. Built as what would normally be called a short rod engine, it still has very good rod to stroke ratio. This short rod configuration will result in a MASSIVE TORQUE output AND STILL MAINTAINING GOOD HORSEPOWER throught the rpm range. All clearances checked out perfect for flawless performance. If there is any failure here it will just have to be due to ignorance/heavy foot and or over winding. If this engine is kept under 6500 rpm it will live forever.. I'm sure it can produce power at higher rpm but most sensible high performance minded people will tell you that big block chevy lives longer/flawlessly when kept in a reasonable rpm level. The heads are aluminum with all the improvements that racers have figured out thru the years. New pro comp with 2.250 intake valves and 1.88 exhaust, 11/16th stem diameter for better flow. valves are swirl polished. I special built these heads with isky "tool room" valve springs, positive valve stem seals, pushrod guides, crane high performance 3/8 pushrods, and crane roller rocker arms. These are set up with proper clearances and ready to run. No need to reset valves during run-in. The cam from Cam Motion is a special hydraulic roller grind with steep opening and closing ramps that makes this engine the most versatile ever offered. With 294 degrees advertised duration and 618 lift on the intake and 301 degrees advertised and 629 lift on exhaust this cam will have a medium /rough idle with lobe centers at 115 degrees. intake centerline is at 110. THIS ENGINE WILL RUN WELL ON PUMP GAS, WITH OR WITHOUT NITROUS,AND WITH OR WITHOUT SUPERCHARGING, OR BOTH, WITH NO MODIFICATIONS NEEDED. Jus putter' in your rod or boat and go have fun. Hyundai & Kia get Google Maps integration – but not in UK

Sun, 06 Jan 2013

Hyundai and Kia are adding Google Maps functionality to their SatNav Systems in the US, but it’s not coming to the UK any time soon. In the US, Hyundai has a clever system called Blue Link (Kia has a similar system called UVO) that offers increased functionality for stuff like the SatNav, Remote Access, Location Sharing and Enhanced Recovery. It costs a few hundred dollars a year (for the all-singing, all-dancing version), but makes your Hyundai much smarter than the average bear.

Concept Car of the Week: Peugeot Proxima (1986)

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

Presented at the 1986 Paris Motor Show, the Proxima concept was the ultimate vision of '80s futurism, both in terms of its design and engineering. To assert its blue-sky vision, Peugeot named its creation after Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the sun. The exterior design was directed by Gérard Welter, and featured a long wheelbase, mid-mounted engine and very small overhangs, putting the accent on power and performance.
