Land Rover reveals rejigged Discovery at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

Land Rover has revealed a surprisingly comprehensive facelift for the Discovery range here at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show – and the firm has underlined the changes with some new badging for the Discovery range. Instead of having ‘LAND ROVER’ on the bonnet, the new Discovery has, well, ‘DISCOVERY’ lettering. That’s because Land Rover wants to make Discovery into its own brand, a bit like Range Rover: here at Frankfurt 2013, we’re seeing the first steps in this rebranding.

New Longbridge production line

Thu, 31 May 2007

By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 31 May 2007 10:10 Reborn MG opens its doors at Longbridge Yesterday marked the latest chapter in one of the genuine rollercoaster stories of our times: the rise and fall – and now yet another recovery – of car production at Longbridge, the spiritual home of some of the most famous nameplates in British car manufacturing. This time it’s the rebirth of MG, now in Chinese hands and back from a near-death experience since MG Rover collapsed in April 2005. Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) is the oldest car maker in China and paid £50 million to snap up the MG brand and manufacturing rights, but can it really stand a chance with its new English project?  The Chinese manufacturer is reviving the MG brand and, in Europe, the first model on sale will be the revised TF roadster on sale around September 2007.

Ferrari celebrates 8 million Facebook Fans with a 458 burnout

Thu, 03 May 2012

Ferrari Facebook 8 Million Video More celebrations by car makers hitting social media milestones, this time Ferrari celebrates 8 million Facebook fans with a 458 burnout. We do wonder how long the latest car maker PR stunt of celebrating social media milestones will continue, but if it gets coverage – like this – the answer is probably that it won’t stop – ever. Yesterday we had AMG celebrating a rather small 2 million YouTube views with a blat in a C 63 AMG Coupe round Laguna Seca, and today we get treated to a Ferrari 458 Italia strutting its stuff to celebrate a far more significant 8 million Facebook Fans (or should that now be Facebook ‘Likes’?).
