The questions one always asks about a car stuffed full of turbo boost and beefy suspension goodies, however, remained hanging before us: Will it be intolerable on the street? Will it ride like a steel-shod forklift on rough pavement and leap like a hornet-stung mule into the back of a porta-potty truck when the boost comes on?

Volkswagen Passat drops United States model when new sedan debuts

Volkswagen probably will drop the Passat sedan and wagon in 2011 when VW's new U.S.-built mid-sized four-door is expected to go on sale. "We are looking at it in detail," Stefan Jacoby, VW Group of America CEO, said this month at a press event here. The U.S.-built sedan, which has yet to be named, will be larger than the Passat but priced lower.

We got our first look at the new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-class sedan last month in a series of photographs released by the German automaker. Now, amid the melee of the Detroit auto show, we finally get to see the fourth-generation C-class in person. As expected, the new car does a great impression of a baby S-class with a strong front end, plenty of side-sculpting and a gentle slope to the rear.
