Jaguar has started what is sure to be a long, sustained dripfeed of information on its new XE compact exec saloon ahead of a planned debut on 8 September 2014. Today's announcement reveals some of the engineering secrets of the Jaguar XE and is designed to whet the appetites of those premium car buyers ready for a change from their 3-series, A4s and C-classes. The Jag XE borrows suspension from elsewhere in the family, the company confirmed today.

Faurecia Pin-spiration calls for premium pinboards

Faurecia has launched its ‘Faurecia Pin-spiration' contest, with a brand new 64GB iPad up for grabs. Tier supplier Faurecia is using online sharing community Pinterest to host a new competition to create a pinboard named ‘Faurecia Pin-spiration' – categorized under ‘Cars and Motorcycles' – and filled with things that reflect the meaning of ‘premium’ that could also be used in automotive design. Toyota studying larger Prius people-hauler

Toyota's Prius family could continue to grow, literally, as the automaker studies an additional version of the popular hybrid that carries three rows of seats. The three-row Prius would not be the same vehicle as the Prius Alpha sold in Japan, which basically crams a third row of seats into the cargo area of the five-seat Prius V to be sold in the United States starting this fall. To the contrary, this potential Prius would be large enough to hold seven people as well as their stuff, said Bob Carter, Toyota Division general manager.
