Jaguar XE is the new small Jaguar: Geneva Motor Show (video)

Tue, 04 Mar 2014

First photo of the Jaguar XE Jaguar has revealed this morning that its new smaller Saloon will be the Jaguar XE, and that its new range of engines will be the Ingenium. Beyond that, we don’t get a lot more than we already know. Heading for an arrival in 2015, the Jaguar XE (we always doubted the commonly accepted Jaguar XS moniker) will be the first car in its segment to have an aluminium monocoque and, say Jaguar, is set to be the most advanced and efficient sports saloon in its sector and will be the first production Jaguar using the new aluminium architecture used for the Jaguar C-X17 SUV Concept.

Ariel Atom 500 V8 (2008): more details and photos

Thu, 28 May 2009

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 28 May 2009 10:34 British sports car specialist Ariel is beavering away on its latest adrenaline hit: a V8 version of its Atom. As if the regular Atom wasn’t barking enough, the new Atom 500 features a new 3.0-litre V8 producing 500bhp (hence the name), which propels it deep into ‘fastest car in the world‘ territory. Ariel has shown one exterior image of the Atom 500 already (pictured), but today is the first glimpse of the new V8 engine.

Alfa Romeo Brera and Spider 1750 TBi and 2.0 JTDM (2010): first official pictures

Mon, 17 May 2010

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 17 May 2010 07:00 Alfa Romeo has fitted its new 200bhp 1750 TBi engine to the 2010 Brera coupé and Spider convertible ranges – alongside the 170bhp 2.0 JTDM diesel. We'd already seen both engines in the 159 compact executive model in 2009, but the new pair should broaden the appeal of Alfa's distinctive sports duo.Alfa's 1750 TBi: the tech lowdownThe TBi engine is a very zeitgeisty 1742cc four-cylinder, equipped with twin overhead cams running 16 valves, direct injection and turbocharging. This full book of tech is enough to liberate 200bhp and 236lb ft from just 1400rpm – not bad specific outputs for a 1.7.The new TBI engine will appeal to business drivers in particular, who will benefit from CO2 emissions of 189g/km in the Brera and 192g/km in the Spider.
