DESCRIPTION: Buy it now or make reasonable offer. Excellent find for classic yacht owners and restorers and nautical collectors. Bronze manual single speed yacht windlass in natural working condition .. rope drum type. Dated August 24 - 1886 on face plate. It weighs 25 pounds including the mounting bolts .. stands 8 1/2" high .. 10" wide .. base is 8 1/2" x 6". Lever takes a 1" bar or pole (not provided). Photographs of racing legends from yesteryear will help the young drivers of tomorrow through an auction over Labor Day weekend at Lime Rock. Autographed vintage photos of famous drivers will be sold to benefit a charity called Survive the Drive, which educates and trains high-school drivers in the Northeast. The program helped more than 10,000 students in the 2008-09 school year.
