The scramble for scarce tires
Mon, 27 Jun 2011North American automakers are struggling with a nagging shortage of tires, caused in part by tire plant closings and rising demand for low-volume specialty tires. Automakers are paying much higher prices -- double-digit percentage increases from a year ago -- as tire makers gain pricing power. Volkswagen aims for lofty Beetle sales
Mon, 25 Apr 2011The attractive new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle is expected to sell as many as 50,000 to 60,000 units a year in the United States. The car launches this fall. That level will be a big improvement over the latter years of the outgoing model, in which sales dwindled to just 15,000 a year, but it remains lower than the record figure of 83,000 achieved 18 months after the launch of the revised model.

Mann's Duesey had all the looks of a winner, with its long front hood, flowing fenders and two seats way in the back.
