GM's Tom Peters on breaking Corvette design tradition [w/Video]

Fri, 04 Oct 2013

GM design director of performance vehicles and full-size trucks Tom Peters has defended his decision to break from Corvette tradition by abandoning round rear lamps for the 2014 Stingray in an Autoweek video. The rear lamp design of the new model has been criticized as being "too Camaro" by some, to which Peters challenges them to park one alongside the other before he highlights just how different they are. Functionality also played a key role in the rear lamps' redesign, he explains, such as rear aerodynamic considerations, new LED technology previously unused in Corvette design, and depth of sculpture opportunities.

Proton Gen-2 facelift (2008): first photos

Thu, 10 Jul 2008

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 10 July 2008 06:49 Proton has published the first details of its revised Gen-2 small car. It's not the most radical of facelifts, but the Gen-2 gains new exterior detailing including front and rear skirts, a new rear spoiler, redesigned alloy wheels, bumper and grille, plus distinctive, smoke-blacked headlamps. Inside, Proton spotters will recognise fresh red trim splattered around the cabin, a redesigned dashboard and handbrake (thank goodness – the last one pinched your fingers on occasion).

Alfa Romeo SUV heading for Alfa showrooms – one day

Sat, 04 May 2013

We’ve heard it all before – and from some well placed people at Alfa Romeo – but an Alfa man has now stuck his neck out and confirmed publicly: There will be an Alfa Romeo SUV in the next two to three years. Damien Dally, who is Alfa’s Brand man in the UK, was speaking at the Telegraph Festival of Motoring this week and was quite happy to confirm the arrival of Alfa’s SUV although, just like all Alfa’s plans, it seems to be a few years behind what they were planning. Back in 2011 – two years after Alfa revealed it planned an assault on the US market, Alfa’s plan was to have an Alfa SUV ready by 2013 to spearhead their return to the US market.
