Exclusive First Sight: Pininfarina Sergio concept
Tue, 05 Mar 2013Upon receiving the call from Pininfarina's PR man, asking if Car Design News would like to head to Torino for a preview of its latest concept car (not a hard offer to accept), we had no other information than its name – Sergio – and an abstract teaser shot of a detail. Red Bull X1 supercar (2010): the full technical spec
Thu, 28 Oct 2010If god is in the detail, then this is surely quite heavenly: the full tech spec of the Red Bull X1. The X1 is the hypercar designed with the help of the Red Bull F1 team - and will star in the highly anticipated Gran Turismo 5 Playstation 3 game. The Red Bull X1 is exclusively revealed in the November 2010 issue of CAR, out now. Adrian Newey, designer of Red Bull's extremely fast but unreliable RB6, designed the X1 in conjunction with Kazanori Yamauchi, the brains behind the Gran Turismo computer games.
Audi R8 V10 sells for $500,000 at charity auction
Wed, 25 Feb 2009Which would you pay more for--a V10-powered Audi R8 or the new Ferrari California? At the third annual Boca Raton Concours d'Elegance in Florida last weekend, the Audi R8--the first one in the United States equipped with the 5.2-liter V10--was the winner in a charity auction, selling for $500,000, well above the car's sticker price of $180,000. Meanwhile, the Ferrari California was snapped up for $350,000, a bit more than the $225,000 sticker price.
