New 2014 Corvette caught in the wild

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray made its Detroit auto show debut in two of the 10 colors on the palette--Torch Red and Cyber Gray. Engineers wasted no time stripping the camouflage off prototypes, exposing three other colors on highways in Arizona--Black, Laguna Blue and Velocity Yellow. Cars wearing those colors have been photographed in the wild by Corvette fans and sent to us--the latest a Laguna Blue Corvette from Elliott Gosch of Scottsdale--along with being posted on fan sites such as www.corvetteforum.com and www.corvette7.com.

Orphan Car Show highlights long-gone classics

Marvelous as it is a setting for car shows, Riverside Park in Ypsilanti, Mich., does present a risk: The park is built in the floodplain of the Huron River. When organizers showed up to stage this year's Orphan Car Show--the nation's largest to feature cars built by companies that no longer do business in America--on June 6, they found the judging stand underwater. That photo showed a birds-eye view of the new F-Type Coupe – complete with panoramic glass roof – but this time Jaguar has revealed what could be the money shot – the view from the rear three quarters looking along the side of the new F-Type and highlighting its curves. It’s a view that is reminiscent of the same angle on the E-Type – no bad thing – even if we don’t expect the F-Type Coupe to keep the E-Type’s side-hinged rear hatch we saw on the C-X16 Concept.
