Sun, 17 Mar 2013A rain delayed qualifying ultimately saw a Red Bull front row for the 2013 Australian Grand Prix. Did the race see Red Bull follow on from 2012? The start of the 2013 Grand Prix circus saw a rain-delayed qualifying in Melbourne, but when the clouds cleared and qualifying was completed it was Red Bull dominating – Vettel on pole, Webber alongside – with Lewis Hamilton in the Mercedes taking third and the Ferraris of Massa and Alonso in fourth and fifth.
Mercedes-Benz has big plans for small cars
Mon, 31 Jan 2011Breaking outside its American position of rear-wheel-drive luxury vehicles, Mercedes-Benz will launch its new front-wheel-drive architecture in the United States in the next three years in the form of a coupe, SUV and possibly a small wagon or compact hatchback. Joachim Schmidt, Mercedes' global sales and marketing boss, said Mercedes is developing at least four models based on its MFA, or Mercedes Front-wheel-drive Architecture. "We will introduce the next generation of our MFA family to the U.S.," Schmidt said in an interview.
U.S. set to raise fuel-economy standard
Tue, 19 May 2009Government regulators will get their prize of higher fuel-economy standards, and automakers will get the certainty of a national emissions standard, under new rules to be proposed Tuesday by President Barack Obama. The fleet average fuel economy for automakers will rise to 35.5 mpg in 2016 under the president's proposal--10 mpg more than today's mandate. At the same time, the president's proposed rule will cut carbon emissions, thought to be a key factor in global warming.
