Used car sales return to pre-recession levels

As the UK’s buoyant new car sales figures continue to buck the European trend, it was only a matter of time before this had a positive knock-on effect on sales of used cars. Now, according to figures released in the latest BCA Used Car Market Report, used car sales hit 7.1 million last year, outpacing new car sales by 6.4% and, even more crucially, returning to pre-recession levels. Both Koenigsegg One:1s on video at Goodwood As we’ve already reported, the Koenigsegg One:1 is debuting at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend, but rather than a single One:1, Koenigsegg have taken the only two One:1s in existence – yes, it’s two for the price of one at Goodwood. One car – the black one in the photo above – is a new One:1 heading for a customer, but the second (the silver can in the photo and video) is Koenigsegg’s development car, so that’s up for a bit of action on the hillclimb this weekend. But ahead of its public appearance, Goodwood managed to get some time with the One:1s and grab track time behind the wheel.

Audi’s A1 was only officially unveiled at the 2010 Geneva motor show, but such is the plethora of new Ingolstadt product on the way that an A1 E-tron electric concept shared the stage with the production supermini. Also on display was the new A8 Hybrid. Yes, after the R8-based concept and the R4-previewing show car, and Audi wants E-tron to become a zero emissions brand in its own right, just as the Quattro tag is inexorably linked to its four-wheel drive models.
