McLaren MP4-12C Sets 7.28:00 at Nurburgring +video
Mon, 24 Oct 2011McLaren MP4-12C sets a time at the Nurburgring We’ve had a spate of claims for lap records at the Nurburgring by production cars, and the latest to play the game is the McLaren MP4-12C, with McLaren claiming a time of 7.28:00. The last shenanigans we had with Nurburgring records was with the Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR setting a Nurburgring time of 7:12.13 which, although very quick – and claimed as a Nurburgring record – wasn’t actually a record at all. Although we do have sympathy with our colonial cousins who believe its validity is greater than that of cars like the Radical.
New Jeep Cherokee: New York Auto Show 2013
Wed, 27 Mar 2013The new Jeep Cherokee has its official public debut at the 2013 New York Auto Show today with 9-speed gearbox and based on a Fiat platform. Now, with the New York Auto Show about to kick off (which you might reasonably have thought was yesterday after the flurry of activity from Jaguar and Land Rover) we get a full set of photos of the Cherokee and specifications. The new Cherokee sits on the Chrysler/Fiat Compact US Wide platform which gets independent front and rear suspension which, say Jeep, offers great on-road dynamics without sacrificing off-road ability and comes with a 9-speed auto box and a choice – at least in the US – of 184bhp 2.4 litre 4-cylinder or 271bhp 3.2 litre Pentastar V6.
Bruce Meyers, the Meyers Manx and 50 years of unfinished business
Wed, 14 May 2014They left the staging area at 1 in the morning. The Manxter Dual Sport dune buggy was holding by faith alone -- it had been repaired over and over again, parts tied or taped together, seldom replaced; covered in the acrid dust of the desert, a dust that fills your lungs and face, a dust that worms its way into the cabin and across every surface. The GPS navigation was out.
