Here is the difference both are direct fit onto vehicle. The differences are through 3/2001 lens is Red, Amber & Clear. After that they went Red & Clear. Also the turn signal socket was made bigger but the older model socket can be wedge in place without issue. This part came of a 2000 TL and worked without issue.
