What the Future Holds, Nobody Knows

Tue, 22 Dec 2009

It's a testament to the talent, charisma and relative celebrity of Ian Callum, Derek Jenkins and Franz von Holzhausen - heads of Jaguar, Mazda and Tesla design, respectively - that they managed to captivate a crowd of industry insiders at the tail end of the Los Angeles Auto Show's second press-preview day. Local Motors announces Pacific Northwest competition winners

Wed, 14 Apr 2010

Local Motors has announced the results of its Pacific Northwest design competition, which asked contenders to create a vehicle for the region's inhabitants. Taking into account nature's four elements - Earth, wind, fire and water - designers the world over answered a brief that called for designs that would enable drivers in the Pacific Northwest to 'thrive in the elements'. Competition entrants were encouraged to create a vehicle inspired by the elements or specifically tailored to allow the users to better experience the elements, all while causing little to no environmental impact.

And real cars means the opportunity to review the Karma, something a US Fisker dealer has put on video. Of course, a video review of Henrik Fisker’s baby from a franchised dealer – even when they get a pro driver to do it – is perhaps never going to be the most objective piece of reporting ever seen, but it does at least give us the opportunity for a real-world view of the Karma.
